Just a few minutes ago we concluded our interview with Dr. Rodríguez, our head physician here at Mayo. After reviewing all the results (with by the way were mostly negative), he decided he wants to see more tests to be completely sure that I have what he suspects. His focus now is in locating a bacteria called Bruscella. This puppy is found mainly in bovines and is transmitted to humans via milk or cheese. I don't drink milk, but we love cheese!
So the next tests will be focused on 1) discover exactly the presence of this bacteria and, 2)discard other things that cause the fever that has been my constant companion for the last 8 weeks.
They've already take 20cc of blood out of my veins today. Next week they will do a CAT scan of the abdomen, take a bone marrow sample and who knows what else...
Our next appointment with the doctors is on Wednesday. We hope by then thay will have a much clearer picture of this bacteria for a more specific diagnostic. If this is the case, the doctor tells us the treatment is a cocktail of antibiotics that will get rid of the bacteria.
They are also making sure there are no other indicators of things that might produce other serious conditions later on.
We continue to pray, exercising the muscle of our faith, enjoying this time of rest in the Lord. Luchy and I are doing well, making the best of every moment to fall more in love with each other and with our Heavenly Father whose presence is with us every second of the day.
