The year 2009 ends today. For many, a very difficult year, not worthy to be remembered. The Miami Herald says in one of its headlines, "2009, A Forgettable Year".
But not for us. In 2009 we saw the hand of God move with mighty power in our lives and the lives of many others around us. We enjoyed the love and attention of many people. We saw many lives transformed by God's power. We suffered the attack of sickness, but at the same time we were the object of the healing power of our Lord and Creator. We also saw the miraculous provision for all our needs and we could offer comfort to many who had lost hope.
What is the common thread in all this? God. His creative, regenerating, healing, providing, loving, just, merciful and forgiving power. My Lord and Savior was not still a single moment during 2009. He was always here with me seeking to encourage, heal, energize, provide, love, care, forgive and push me forward.
God, my friend, my Lord, my Creator, my provider and my hope is the reason why 2009 has been a special year, worthy to be remembered. When I look back, I can't remember a single moment in which God was not there, deeply involved in the affairs of our lives, family and ministry.
The only difficult and sad moments were those when I chose to go my own way, when I tried to show God I can do it my way...only to abruptly crash because of my sin and ignorance. Every time I acted this way, trying to impress others that I can, I ended up separated from God, the source of everything good there is in my life.
That's why I see the coming year with a great hope. Because I know my Lord is waiting for me there with great new adventures that will stretch my character, my faith and trust in Him. With Him, every new day, week, month and year is better than the last. Mi deepest desire is never to be apart from my Lord for any minute. I don't want to miss what He has in store for me, my family and ministry.
Let 2010 come! With my Lord, we'll make good use of every day to grow and to get closer to the fulfillment of the mission for our lives. I can do everything through Him that gives me strength.
From the Leiva-Mármol family, Layo, Luchy, Hector, Daniel and Andres, we want to share our deepest gratitude for all the love you have showered us with this year, specially in the last three months of my illness. Every expression through e-mails, messages, calls, visits, financial gifts, etc., has been a personal touch from God's love to me and every member of this family.
¡Muchas gracias! Thank you so much!
We feel committed to continue serving Him and all the people around us. We will not rest until our country and our continent has been transformed by the love and power of God.
The antibiotic treatment is working well. The fevers are gone and I feel the energy being restored with each passing day. Luchy is also taking her pills every day. Soon, God will restore us 100%. We go back to El Salvador on January 7th.
¡Feliz Año Nuevo! Happy New Year!
