Our first appointment ended with those words on Friday, November 29. We met during 2 hours with Dr. M.J. Rodríguez, who was assigned to us by God to deal with my case. He is Colombian, old school Doctor who takes the time to listens to his patients (and the wife), who carefully reads all the previous tests and radiology practiced to me in El Salvador.
We discovered that Dr. Rodríguez was on the Mayo Clinic team who took care of Pope John Paul II the last 4 years of his life. Also, that there is a waiting list of a year to get an appointment with him... and we got the appointment within 3 days...a true miracle! As it is everything we are experiencing every day since we arrived in the United States.
Luchy, Andrés and me arrived to Miami on Wednesday, November 26.
God had provided a car (thanks to our dear friends the Beals) and a wonderful family to stay with (our dear Quevedos) in Miami.
The next day was one of the most important celebrations in the American calendar: Thanksgiving. We joined the Quevedos to prepare dinner and with other 3 families. We had a wonderful banquet with a great meal and lovely fellowship with God at the center of this celebration.
At 4pm, Luchy and I left for Orlando. Our friends convinced us that it was better for Andres to stay with them in Miami to do his classwork and not have to spend long boring hours at the hospital with us. Blessed Quevedos!
We spent a very restful night in Orlando. Very early on Friday (5:30 am), we started the last phase of our journey to Jacksonville. At 9:00 am we were starting the registration process to the hospital system. At 10:00 am Dr. Rodriguez received us in his clinic within the hospital.
Our doctor carefully reviewed all the documentation we brought from El Salvador, he attently listened to all our comments and then proceeded to perform a very thorugh examination of all cavities in my body. He did not find anything abnormal. He then started to design a battery of tests that would complement (in some cases repeat) the ones I have already had done in El Salvador, to try to identify the cause of all my symptoms I've been experiencing for the last 6 weeks.
The tests started Friday morning. Later, we decided to return to Orlando to rest for the weekend, geting ready for Monday and Tuesday, days almost completely filled with all kinds of tests.
We had a very easy weekend, enjoying another of God's miraclous provisions for us: a great studio apartment completely equipped, exclusive for Luchy and me....! (Kellers, thank you so much!)
As I write these lines, we're back in Jacksonville, getting ready for what's coming in the next two days.
I feel very good. The fever has been very mild. With Luchy we're full of faith, courage and confidence that we are in the hands of my Creator, who knows exactly what my problem is and also the solution.
We have been sorrounded by the prayers, e-mails, calls, facebook entries, etc. of so many people that love us: family, friends, workmates, brothers and sisters in Christ, etc. That's why we decided to use this method to keep you updated on our progress so we can all praise God for His healing in my body.
Let's not drop down the prayer guard. The race has just started.
Our theme passage for this adventure is Psalms 166. Enjoy this great Psalm and let's claim it together until God completes his healing work.
